Sorensen (ソレンセン, Sorensen) is a supporting character in Suikoden V. Sorensen is the extremely dedicated apprentice of the great inventor, Babbage.

Biography

Sorensen is the heavily dedicated, selfless apprentice of the inventor, Babbage. Living in Babbage's Estrise workshop, Sorensen worshiped the eccentric inventor, dreaming of a day when he too would become a great inventor like his master. Holding an innocent personality, he had complete faith in Babbage, allowing even his master's most eccentric or selfish commands wash over him easily. A large part of his duties involved him taking care of Babbage's housework and meals while also cleaning up after Lu.

Sorensen, along with Babbage and Lu, first became involved in the Sun Rune War when the Prince paid the Estrise inventor a visit in hopes of getting him to help shut down the Revolving Bridge. Seeing that his invention was not used for the reason he had invented it, Babbage agreed, Sorensen and Lu following in tow. The three managed to remove an essential gear from the Revolving Bridge, thus disabling it. When they returned to Estrise, an impressed Prince asked Babbage to join his forces; Babbage turned him down, but offered to send Sorensen in his stead. The Prince accepted, and Sorensen joined the Imperial City Recapture Army.

Later in the war, the Recapture Army would call upon Sorensen and Babbage’s help once again, this time in the taking of Hatred Fortress. The two created a mechanism that launched a barrel of oil into the fortress, starting a fire that would draw most of the Godwin forces away from Hatred Fortress before the fortress itself was overwhelmed by a tidal wave.

Further on in the war, once the water drained out of the lower level of the Sindar castle, a new room was discovered – and inside of it, a gear from the days of the Sindar. Growing excited at this prospect, Sorensen begged the prince to bring Babbage back so that his teacher could look at this ancient gear. Agreeing, the Prince and Sorensen went to Estrise and escorted Babbage back to the gear room, where he asked to join the Prince’s forces in order to study it. Working at the gear, Babbage and Sorensen eventually discovered a way to get the Sindar gears working, leading to the discovery of an elevator within the ruins at Ceras Lake.

After the war ended, Sorensen made a cold, lonely return to the Ashtwal Mountains to examine the ruins' contraptions, at Babbage’s request while he shifted his attentions towards making Lu his new apprentice.
